The Association of Contracting Plumbers of the City of New York Inc. (ACP), is a trade association of New York City licensed, unionized plumbing firms. Established in 1881, it is the oldest organization of its kind in the country. ACP member firms have built and maintained the sanitary, fuel gas, methane retention, solar heat/solar hot water, and medical gas systems in countless New York City buildings. From hospitals to sporting arenas, residential homes to 100- story commercial office buildings, public and private schools to plumbing infrastructure, etc., ACP plumbing firms protect the health of all who live, work, and visit New York City.
The Association is the exclusive “bargaining agent” for its members in its collective bargaining agreements with Plumbers Local Union Number 1 and has representatives who serve as management trustees on a variety of union fringe benefits funds including a Taft-Hartley pension fund. Beyond negotiating the “New Construction/Alteration” and “Mechanical Equipment Service” collective bargaining agreements and serving as trustees to the funds with Local 1, the ACP handles a joint labor/management “job targeting program” designed to effect necessary cost saving adjustments to the collective bargaining agreements on a project-by-project basis. The administration of the joint labor-management arbitration process is also managed by the ACP. Additionally, the ACP participates in and supports local, state, and national apprenticeship training programs in order to provide a source of qualified craftsmen and craftswomen for an expanding and changing industry.
ACP members offer the most ethical, professional, and skillful plumbers with the highest level of safety training that the industry has to offer. Through a subsidiary organization, the ACP works to ensure that New York City is kept safe by having work performed by licensed plumbing contractors. The ACP constantly strives to provide the best quality plumbing, while considering technological advances, with the best labor in the industry at a reasonable price.
